Summer 2010, thank you.

Today is the last day of summer. I know technically it isn’t, but in the way I see summer, this is the end… Until next year.

In these short months, I’ve grown a little bit. I’ve changed. Wonderful things have happened, and sad things have happened, but the end result is something I never want to forget. I watched meteors on cool evenings, and watched fireworks until I felt the lights would be engraved into my eyes. I laughed a lot, and cried a little bit. I went to the beach and watched sunsets at the bay. I read good books, and watched good movies. I got over 40 mosquito bites, and a little sunburned as well. I took lots of pictures. I have irreplaceable, warm, sunny memories to keep me going through those inevitable winter days of life.

It was all I could have asked for, and more.

Mom at work

I helped my mom at work again today. It seems that’s been a big part of my summer. I’m really getting tired of it, but I feel bad saying that. I know how much she needs my help, but I’d rather be relaxing outside or something, you know? Of course we didn’t finish everything that needed to be done, so I’ll be going back tomorrow. If it wasn’t so hot out, I wouldn’t mind it so much.

Back home to NJ, and a busy night

We left PA this afternoon, and by the time we got home I was feeling really tired. I miss my family already!

I went to a friend’s house later on, and hung out with a few of my favorite people. It was nice seeing someone I hadn’t seen in a while, and it was nice just being around everyone.

Now I just want to chill out!

Pool day

The weather was perfect today, and we were able to spend some time in the pool! I haven’t really been swimming much this summer, so I appreciate the opportunity when I can. It was really refreshing, and I had fun! However, I’m starting to feel sad that days like these are going to get packed away very soon. Still, I am very happy and this thought only makes me savor today even more.

Bugs and things

It was a nice day, and tonight was pretty interesting. The kids found a really big, gross slug, and then a toad. We all sat outside for a while until it was just my dad, M, and I. We fed moths to spiders, and I know that sounds terrible, but… it was kind of cool to watch spiders in action. Little by little I’m starting to appreciate spiders more, but they still scare me! Anyway, I’m pretty sure I got bit up, but hopefully not too bad. If I did, it was worth it. I love summer nights like this…

Lego Star Wars

I have a new obsession. My cousin made me play Lego Star Wars on the Wii. At first I thought it would be really boring and kind of silly, but it turned out to be a really fun game! It was still silly, but the good kind of silly. I am thinking of buying it. Future birthday present to myself? Yes, I think so.

More than anything, it’s nice to be spending time with family.

Ears are a pain

My little cousin had his surgery today, and it seemed to go well. He was a little cranky, but could you blame the kid? It was actually fun playing this fishing game with him (you have to collect 4 or 5 fish of the same color), but I was trying to lose on purpose and I still kept getting the ones I needed.
Somehow I managed to lose, but it wasn’t easy! Who would have thought that?

Truthfully, I really hope our being here is more helpful to my aunt and uncle than a pain in the butt.
